Sensirion SEK-SHTxx/SGP30 Sensor Evaluation Kit

Sensirion focuses on sensor technology and they manufacture several versions of surface-mount digital (I2C) temperature, humidity, and gas environmental sensors. To test or evaluate a sensor, it first needs to be soldered onto a PCB that has been designed with the necessary electrical interface. This is where the SEK-SHTxx/SGP30 evaluation kit provides flexibility and efficiency when evaluating Sensirion’s sensors. The evaluation kit contains five sensors, plug-and-play hardware and software access for quick and easy evaluation of the different sensors.

Sensors

Five types of sensors are provided in the evaluation kit: a digital gas sensor SGP30; a digital temperature sensor STS31-DIS; and digital humidity sensors - SHTC1, SHT31-DIS-B, and SHTW2. Since the sensors themselves are tiny SMT devices, each one is mounted on a flex PCB to easily plug into the provided interface cable.

Hardware

The kit includes a Sensirion SensorBridge and all necessary connector cables. The SensorBridge provides a USB to I2C interface and features two independent I2C channels that allow simultaneous evaluation of two environmental sensor samples. Two interface cables are provided. Each has an RJ-45 connector on one end that plugs into the SensorBridge and a flex PCB connector on the other that the sensor flex PCB assemblies plug into.

Software

The ControlCenter viewer software makes it possible to display and log the sensor signals for multiple sensors connected to several SensorBridges on the same PC. It is available for download on Sensirion’s ControlCenter.
