A small experiment was created to compare the data rates achieved using normal and ping-pong buffering. An XMEGA was set to transfer data using USB in BULK transfer mode. This mode has a maximum packet size of 64 bytes. As one can see in the table, the benefits of the ping-pong mode are obvious. The bandwidth has increased significantly to 8.7 Mb/s, boosting the performance of the application and closing in on the theoretical maximum data rate.
