Each Advanced Energy power module has a wide range of output voltage adjustment. As an example, module Xg5, commonly called module 5, can be set by a potentiometer over the range of 28 to 58V. The maximum output of a module is constrained by either the maximum current Imax ,or the maximum wattage, Wmax. Neither can be exceeded. For power budget calculations in a PowerPac, each output module is rated at actual current times actual voltage. Using Vtrim enables the output for module XG5 to be adjusted all the way down to 7.2V. Modules 1 through 5 also have an Itrim pin, which enables a user to set a limit for Imax, either straight line or foldback. For more on Itrim and Vtrim, see the Advanced Energy Designer’s Manual.
