Using such a thin substrate allows Lumex’s QuantumBrite flexible backlights to create a unique lighting solution for displays that is unattainable using thicker sheets. The ultra-thin QuantumBrite flexible backlights help existing technologies significantly reduce their profile width and also opens the door for new applications that incorporate backlights in creative new ways, for example, applications that require curved lighting. In addition, the reduced requirement for material and LEDs can significantly lower the overall cost compared to traditional backlights.
