Finally, the L6208 and L6228 devices have a full stepper driver with an embedded stepping sequence generator. This device is dedicated and optimized for stepper motors. A very simple microcontroller can drive the motor by simply selecting the kind of control, slow or fast decay, or a mix of the two. The microcontroller can select the kind of stepping sequence, half, full or micro stepping, and feed the step clock and the desired direction. The device does the rest, it is constantly moving. The PWM modulator described for the L6207 is also present.
