TDK’s Soft Termination capacitors are offered in EIA case sizes ranging from 0603 to 2220, voltage ratings from 6.3V to 3000V, and capacitance ratings up to 100µF. It is available in temperature characteristics such as X7R, X7S, and X7T. The Soft Termination capacitor is effective against solder cracking due to temperature shock. The shear force of standard termination after temperature shock test decreases significantly with increasing cycles. However, the Soft Termination capacitor retains the shear force because it absorbs the temperature shock. In addition, on a cross-sectional view, the Soft Termination shows little damage of the solder joint.
