Thermal Comparison in EV Fast Charging Stations

Fig.3 shown here is the thermal performance of a FRED Pt® Gen 5 60 A device in a real 30 kW DC fast charger at full load at Tamb of 50°C. The lower T_h/s temperature indicates lower losses versus the competition. Fig. 4 shows the thermal performance of a FRED Pt Gen 5 30 A device in a real 15 kW DC fast charger at full load at Tamb of 50°C. In this case the lower temperature of the Vishay diode means lower power losses and higher efficiency of the converter.
