There are two main types of fuses, Fast-acting and Time-delay. The type of fuse used in an application depends on the type of load being protected. The fast-acting fuses open very quickly when their current rating is exceeded. This action is needed when speed is important for sensitive electronics and for many DC power applications. They are generally used in circuits with resistive loads and low inrush current levels.
