Thermal Conductivity (k)

Now that the mechanical concerns of Pressure, Gap Range, and recommended deflection range have been addressed, the designer can focus on the thermal concerns of the customer. The table shown here will narrow down the Gap Pad options based on the customer’s desired thermal performance target. While everyone wants to have a high Thermal Conductivity (k), not everyone wants to pay for that performance. Sometimes it is necessary to know what is sufficient for the application need, and not just choose ‘the best’ and consequently disappoint a customer based on price.
