Image of NXP i.MX RT1180 Crossover MCUNXP i.MX RT1180 is a crossover MCU with a Gb time-sensitive networking (TSN) switch, enabling real-time networking for both TSN-based and industrial real-time communications. Its architecture facilitates communication bridging between existing systems and future Industry 4.0 applications.

  • Dual-core design: the MCU features a dual-core architecture with an 800 MHz Arm® Cortex®-M7 core and a 300 MHz Cortex-M33 core, providing design flexibility
  • Efficient execution: real-time execution is enhanced by large, low-latency, tightly coupled memories (TCM) and embedded shared memories
  • Power efficiency: engineered for power efficiency, with use cases starting from 250 mW
  • Motor control: the device includes high-speed 16-bit analog-to-digital converters, advanced timers/PWM, and Delta-Sigma demodulators to support multi-axis motor control
  • Multiprotocol networking: the integrated Gb TSN supports a variety of real-time industrial Ethernet protocols, including Profinet, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, and CC-Link IE Field while being compliant with TSN standards, including IEC 60802 for industrial automation
  • Advanced security: the i.MX RT1180 incorporates security features such as the trusted resource domain controller (TRDC), TrustZone®-M (TZ-M), a physical unclonable function (PUF), and the EdgeLock® secure enclave, providing a component-level foundation for IEC 62443 system compliance
