For the point of load, or POL, non-isolated DC/DC conversion stage the TPS54620, 4.5 to 17 V input, 6 A step-down converter can be used. The TPS54620 is a small 17 V input, 6 A synchronous step-down converter which comes in a 3.5 x 3.5 mm QFN package. A complete 6 A single-sided solution occupies only 195 mm2. While a double-sided solution such as the PMP5495 reference design fits in a 12 x 8 mm area.
